EMBRACING PEACE

Image
The world is too chaotic for you not to be deliberate about your peace.  Peace is the feeling of serenity, tranquility, calmness and bliss in the midst of storms, whirlwinds and troubles of life. However, beyond the feeling, it must be evident for others to SEE!  Life is meant to have its ups and downs, highs and lows, disappoints and satisfactions but embracing peace regardless of whatever life throws at you is the best way to live. Embracing peace entails having a balanced view about life, not expecting so much from people, talking to yourself more, self-appraising/self-criticizing, choosing to learn from every mistake without being hard on yourself, consistently assisting others in every way possible, being settled that you are loved and the list continues. When you choose to have peace, you have mastered the art of living. When you do not tie your peace to anything, circumstance, location or whatever, you are on your journey to being PEACEFUL.

THE POWER OF THE MIND

Image
When you set your mind to it, it becomes a possibility. When you take the first step, you become closer to your desired destination. If your mind can conceive it, it can become your reality. Do you know your mind is a tool in your hands? Yes, it is. You can tailor it the way you want. The more reason why tuning it towards positivity is a MUST. Have you ever wondered why we have women breaking the ceilings against every bias and limitation while we have some settling for the basics?  Their Minds make the difference.  Settling for the basics isn't a crime in itself, the crime is in having the potential and resources to break glass ceilings yet choosing to ground yourself. Has anyone told you that, you have the power to make it happen? Have you ever heard that you have the mind to conceive a great idea and the resources to make it a reality? If no one has told you all this, well, you just heard them from me! The world cannot wait to see you break even, even as a woman...

PUSHING THROUGH

Image
I think we all must have had times and moments when we had a lot on our minds and projects on our tables, yet we feel blank in our brains. Lol.  We wanted to do all these and that within a time frame and we don't even know from where to start. Then, we resorted into pending it all to take a nap or deep sleep with "I can't kill myself" kind of feeling🧐. The fact is, you are not alone on this. Of a truth, today is one of such days for me. It's good to have ideas. It's great to have tasks and projects. Of course, meeting deadlines is a great thing. But you see, don't be too tensed. The pressure is coming from no where else but from you. I understand it's the beginning of a new year and the morale is still high to keep to our schedules, goals and resolutions for the year. Yet, to achieve all you might have on your papers, you need to take a step per time. One thing that helps is have a "to-do list" for each day. Have your tasks broken down int...

WHERE WE WERE

Image
It is worthy of note, that whatever position we are occupying today, some women of note have struggled, fought and paid through their noses for it. However, in our quest to attain more, speak more and occupy more spaces, I think we need to understand where exactly we are coming from, how smooth or rough our journey has been- to take a breath and part ourselves on the back. Of course, our journeys have been different. The starting points differed. While women of colour had their bait handed over to them earlier, black women had just left the stage of self-realization and awareness.  Throwing it back into history, women were usually excluded in meaningful conversations, and when mentioned, we were usually portrayed in sex stereotypical roles such as mothers, wives, daughters and mistresses. Nothing more. In the literary texts of those times, women were always at the receiving end of men's unending ego, insecurities, sexual excesses and irresponsible behaviours.  We were t...
